'Individual Exploration in Painting & Drawing' with Fred Reichman
UCB Ext. Gallery Two-Person Show & Faculty Art Show Works
As a benefit for teaching in the Interior Architecture / Interior Design Department (18 years) at University of California, Berkeley Extension in San Francisco, I was fortunate to continue studying with Fred Reichman (1925-2005), enrolling in his 'Individual Exploration in Drawing and Painting' for seven years. Fred's work is in the collections of the National Museum of American Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Oakland Museum among others. The continuing studies culminated in a two-person show at the Extension gallery as well as inclusion in a couple of Faculty Art Shows as well.
UCB Extension Classwork with Fred Reichman
The works shown are part of the large collection of art created during the seven years I studied with Fred Reichman (1925-2005), enrolled in his 'Individual Exploration in Drawing and Painting', semester after semester. As the class title implies, individual exploration was encouraged along with class field trips to SF MOMA and other museums, resulting in a few 'chair' portraits as well as representations of Northern California hills and coast.
"The bold, sweeping, gestural spontaneity of my works emerge in direct proportion to the depth of experience of the event."
